Around the monks of Sturzelbronn

This picturesque tour will lead you in the footsteps of the Cistercian monks who settled in Sturzelbronn as early as the 12th century and left their mark on the village through their way of living their faith.

This tour, starting in a picturesque village, will lead you on the traces of the former Cistercian abbey of Sturzelbronn. After a largely forested section, the place called Bremendell allows a break halfway along the route (restaurant, campsite, wine cellar).

Description

Ce circuit fait partie des sentiers d'excellence du Pays de Bitche (n° 9). Il est balisé disque rouge, complété du macaron vert "Sentiers d'excellence". Au départ du parking, en ce de l'église, franchir le portail d'entrée de l'ancienne abbaye cistercienne. Prendre la rue de l'abbaye à droite, puis la route de la Muhlenbach à gauche. Passer devant le camping, puis prendre à droite à l'intersection, après le camping. Monter au Kuhberg, et rejoindre le rocher du Luchsfelsen après environ 4 km. Ici niche le faucon pélerin (de février à août), il est très sensible au dérangement, prière de rester discret ! Se diriger vers le hameau de la Bremendell (possibilité de faire un léger écart au circuit pour s'y rendre : restaurant, camping, cave à vins). Poursuivre le circuit sur environs 4,5 km pour rejoindre le Kreuzberg (montagne de la croix), avant de revenir vers le point de départ.
